Light Day is Almost Here! Here's What You Need to Know

Light Day is upon us, Sanderfans! As the holiday season approaches, we at Dragonsteel wanted to create a special experience that reflects the values of our community while avoiding the chaos of traditional retail holidays like Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Enter Light Day, a celebration inspired by the lightest day of rain on Roshar, from The Stormlight Archive. Not only is it a nod to Brandon Sanderson’s beloved series, but it also gives us a chance to offer exclusive deals, new products, and carefully crafted bundles—all while ensuring our employees have a more restful and joyous holiday season.

What Is Light Day?

If you haven’t been following The Cognitive Realm, Brandon’s or Dragonsteel’s social media channels, or watching his Weekly Updates on his YouTube channel, then this may come as a bit of a surprise to you: we don’t like Black Friday or Cyber Monday. This is mainly due to the sales overlap of one of our biggest holidays and how many people are forced to work, often on the actual holiday itself, to prepare for the insanity that Black Friday has become.

This year, and every year following, we’re rejecting the new norm of Black Friday and Cyber Monday and creating our own special day. Though we’re calling it Light Day, it doesn’t bear any significance to what’s being put on sale—more on that below—rather, we just really like the name and feel it encapsulates what we’re trying to do in separating ourselves from the rest of the retail industry.

What to Expect

You should expect the following exciting things to happen during our Light Day sale each year:

Now we get to share the awesome items we’ve been keeping secret! (Trust us, it’s been hard not to ruin the surprise, because it’s all so good.)

As you know, Light Day is kicking off on October 29. Be sure to check our store at 11AM MDT to see all the new items! All the items you'll see in the bundles below will be available individually on October 29, though the discounts come in with the bundles. More on that next!

From October 29 through November 15, we’ll be releasing a new bundle each day (not including weekends). These bundles will give you a discount on our new items, and some fan-favorite products you’ll only be able to get during this Light Day sale!

The bundles will be available until November 15, or until they sell out—whichever comes first. Below, you’ll be able to see each of the bundles, when they’ll launch, and their price, so you can plan your purchases accordingly.

While you certainly can wait and make your purchases at the end of the sale to save on shipping prices, keep in mind that if a bundle sells out, it’s gone for good.

**October 29: The Bands of Mourning Leatherbound**

Brandon's personal favorite book from the Wax and Wayne tetralogy, The Bands of Mourning, joins the deluxe signed leatherbound series in a new edition. This collectable edition of The Bands of Mourning is bound in high-quality leather with two-color foil on the cover. With smyth-sewn pages and a durable cover, this is the kind of book that will last forever and make a gorgeous addition to your library.

For its debut, you’ll be able to choose between a signed and numbered or a signed copy of The Bands of Mourning. (Our signed and numbered copies will go fast, so plan accordingly!)

October 30: The Cozy Radiant’s Bundle
