It all started as a small book signing, with Brandon hanging out late into the night, chatting with readers at a local bookstore. Now it's grown into this amazing gathering full of creativity, camaraderie, and storytelling. Come one, come all. Welcome to Dragonsteel Nexus 2024!
We’ve got an inspiring atmosphere already. Collectors are braving the Utah chill with camp chairs and blankets, and our team is hustling to get everything just right. The energy is palpable. People have come from all over for the magic of this event, and we’re humbled by the enthusiasm we’ve seen so far.
Throughout the event, you can come back here—to The Cognitive Realm—to get exclusive updates and content directly from the source. I’ll be sharing some content as it’s happening, and some later in the day, so be sure to check back for new posts. And don’t forget to join the conversation on any of our social channels. We always love hearing from you!
It’s almost showtime, but before we begin, I wanted to give you a little rundown and a heartfelt thank-you from all of us here at Dragonsteel. Let’s get into it!
Behind the Scenes: The Making of Dragonsteel Nexus
Dragonsteel Nexus starts long before the doors open. It includes our teams bickering (lovingly, of course) over tiny details in the conference room for hours and hours, loading huge trucks with tons of gorgeous books and merch, painstakingly preparing programming so that every moment is engaging, and so much more. We’re all so lucky to be able to do it.
Today we’ve gotten to see much of our planning and preparation efforts come to life as our team members and valiant volunteers work to set up the event. There’s a lot of shuffling around, changing schedules, and plenty of moments of “Oh no, where did we put that?” (Hint: We left it in the warehouse.) But through all the insanity, the excitement is infectious. It always, always is.
This year we’ve got a few surprises in store. But we’re really looking forward to the unplanned moments too. And you are such a major part of creating them with us. Whether it’s running into your favorite character brought to life by an amazing cosplayer or catching a glimpse of Brandon himself dashing off to a panel (“A wizard is never late, nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to.” 🧙🏻♂️), it’s these moments that leave a mark.
Our goal has always been to cultivate a space where connection happens in the small, unplanned interactions as much as in the big, organized events.
The Heart of Nexus: The Fans
Let’s be real—none of this would mean anything without you. You’re the heart of Dragonsteel. Seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones is what makes all the planning, the hustle, and even the stress worth it.
Every debate that happens between panelists and the audience, the hallway lore conversations, the excellent exhibitors, and laughter in lines means one thing for sure: this is as much YOUR event as it is ours. Your passion, creativity, and kindness inspire us, and this weekend is our way of giving a bit of that back to you.
We’ve seen fans who traveled across continents just to be here, and others who have been waiting for years for their first chance to join us. It’s humbling. It’s why we put so much effort into making Dragonsteel Nexus a welcoming, exciting, and unforgettable experience. Whether it’s your first Nexus or you’ve been here from the start, we’re so glad to have you.
Highlights to Look Forward To
- Panels and Discussions. This year we have panels on everything from writing craft to deep dives into the Cosmere. Come with your questions (prepare to be RAFO’d) and be ready for some awesome conversations.
- Signings, Signings, and More Signings! There are lots of opportunities for fans to meet Brandon and get their books signed. Plus, Brandon’s famous Lightning Signings are back, and they’re as fast-paced and fun as ever. It’s a whirlwind, but it’s also a blast to see so many books signed and so many happy fans.
- Worldhopper Ball. Get ready to dance the night away at Shallan and Adolin’s wedding reception. The costumes, the music, the atmosphere—it’s going to be unforgettable. Whether you’re dressed up in full Cosmere regalia or just here to enjoy the vibes, you’re in for a treat. And don’t worry if you can’t attend, our team is dedicated to capturing as much of the magic as we can to share with all of you.
- Cosplay Showcase. The creativity of our community always blows us away. We like that you give us a run for our money! This year’s cosplay showcase is set to be bigger and better, with fans bringing their favorite characters to life in the most amazing ways. Be sure to stop by and cheer on the cosplayers that have put their hearts into these creations.
- Tricks up Our Sleeves. We can’t tell you everything, can we? Just know there are a few surprises planned that we think you’re going to love. 🤯
Wrapping Up
Dragonsteel Nexus is a place where we come together to celebrate the journey. In many ways, this is a landmark event for us because Wind and Truth is concluding such a huge arc in so many of our lives. It feels extra special, somehow.
Thanks for being here, for being part of this incredible journey, and for making Dragonsteel Nexus what it is. Let’s make this year the best one yet. I mean—until next year, obviously.
See you all on the floor and in the comments! (PS: You can comment on our blogs now! Tell me, what do you want to see most? I want to capture what you want to read!)

These are great ideas guys! Thanks! (She says, furiously taking notes…)
Ditto that, would love a production of the Ball (and maybe a full video tour of the Brando Sando Cave of Wonders)
I’ve been relentlessly trying to purchase the SIGNED Wind and Truth hardcover but can’t find it ANYWHERE. Can Dragonsteel sell me one? Just one? Pretty please!!!??? :-)
A topic I would be interested in is updates from Dan. He was working with a League of Legends team to sponsor and mentioned them twice on Intentionally Blank but without many details. He also worked on Moonbreaker the game but again occasional updates on Intentional Blank are all I have heard about that. It might not be a priority, but having a bit more space for updates than the podcast would be cool.
As someone who did not get a ticket would love to see content from the Worldhopper Ball!
